Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland are the only Scottish charity with a remit to support all those affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus across Scotland. With little statutory funding we have to raise £1.5million every year. Every penny raised helps empower all families affected by Spina Bifida or Hydrocephalus in Scotland; ensuring our dedicated team of support workers, specialist nurses and counsellors can spring into action and sow the seeds of hope across Scotland.
When your baby dies, it is an incredibly traumatic and extremely lonely time as you may struggle to find others who understand the overwhelming emotions you experience. We can be there to hold your hand and walk with you on your journey, as you start to find a way to cope with your grief. Our families are at the heart of everything that we do. All our bereavement support services are free and for as long as they are needed. We know that no one person’s grief is the same, so our support services are individualised for each family we support. You can help us by raising vital funds to support our families.
We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone and for good.
Every year, over two million people in the UK experience domestic abuse. Not one of them should have to wait until they’re in crisis before we pay attention. We work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse. We want what you would want for your best friend. We listen to survivors, putting their voices at the heart of our thinking. We look at the whole picture for each individual and family to get the right help at the right time to make families everywhere safe and well. And we challenge perpetrators to change, asking ‘why doesn’t he stop?’ rather than ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ This applies whatever the gender of the victim or perpetrator and whatever the nature of their relationship.
Last year alone, 25,000 professionals received our training. Over 79,000 adults at risk of serious harm or murder and close to 100,000 children received help through dedicated multi-agency support designed by us and delivered with partners. In the last six years, more than 4,000 perpetrators have been challenged and supported to change by interventions we created with partners, and that’s just the start. Without your support, this work wouldn’t be possible. The donations you raise will be used to ensure we can keep doing this crucial work. Together we can end domestic abuse. For everyone. For good.
James Support Group was set up in April of 2018 in response to losing our son James to suicide 6 months before because there wasn’t any help for the family or friends who were suffering. We support all who are bereaved by suicide & those who suffer with suicidal thoughts by holding monthly group meetings in Inverness, Dingwall, Invergordon, Thurso, Nairn, Aviemore, Elgin, Ullapool, Grantown on Spey & Fort William. One to one sessions are available across The Highlands & we operate a 24/7 helpline 07563 572471
From our centre within the ground of Raigmore Hospital, our team of cancer support specialists, a clinical psychologist and benefits advisor provide, practical, social, and emotional support to those affected by cancer across the Highlands. Whether that is the person with the diagnosis themselves, or their family, friends, or colleagues. Our unique programme of support includes network groups, managing hair loss, bereavement support, children’s support group, mindfulness, relaxation, and much more.
Most of our programme of activities, courses and groups run both in person in the centre and online which, given our unique geography in the Highlands, allows us to support as many people as possible. Last year we supported people over 20,000 times. As well as our programme of support we also offer daily drop-in support, in the centre, to anyone who needs it.
